Here are located Frequently Asked Questions (or simply ` FAQ) related to OpenXP and it's further development.

What is OpenXP?

OpenXP is a community project, aimed to actualize Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 to work with modern hardware and software, by fixing security issues, enhance source code with latest patches and give it to everyone for free.

How can I compile source code?

This is why this wiki is created for. We have some articles related to compilation of source code, and the best point for it currently, is Getting Started.

Why your source code is closed?

The one and only reason for that is: legal issues: OpenXP is based on leaked source code of Windows Server 2003, which legally is a trade secret, meaning that we may face legal consequences by sharing source code of OpenXP. The only way to make OpenXP completely open-source and distributable with GNU license is complete code audit and reimplementation of crucial parts from grounding. We do everything to make this happen as soon as possible, so... wait for it.

Will you have any public releases?

It depends. Developers don't have enough time to add new improvements into OpenXP and it requires titanic works for it. We wish to make OpenXP better in any way, so gradually we preparing to release binary versions of OpenXP, in future rewinding Insider Program for those who want to try out complete builds.

Who are Vix, Alureon, Chaziz and others?

Bunch of bastards.
